Four and a half years ago I moved to Glen Rose. My plan was to rent or buy a small home, save for and then buy a beautiful piece of land in the country, and one day build my dream home on it. Today, I took a huge step toward that goal by signing the loan papers for home construction. The folks at First Financial Bank said excitement was written all over my face. The team at Glen Rose Title squeezed in one more loan closing today to help me out with my busy travel schedule (and avoid a crying, pathetic women on the phone). The Big Hill Community is steadily growing. I am absolutely amazed at how many people it takes to build a home. And I only know of the ones I see and meet.
When I think of all that has happened in my life over the last 4 1/2 years- and even before that, the fact that I am actually doing this is astounding. God delivers. Again. (Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief).
Two of my sisters, Linda and Rebecca came down for the big event. So did Karen, Linda's partner, and Ava, my nearly perfect niece. We went out to Big Hill after the signing and popped some peach champagne and had a celebration "parTAY" right about where the hot tub will be.
The afternoon marked the beginning of visable progress toward a long term goal. And the evening ended with quiet and stillness on Big Hill. I hope for a lot more evenings like this one.
